Joe Longthorn – You and Me Tour

31 03 2008

Joe Longthorn is a first class entertainer battling cancer, he has been on deaths bed and at one point couldn’t speak. Joe is not someone I would normally go and see, but I have seen him previous times when he was in Glasgow with my Mum and Gran. The last time I saw Joe was when he was performing just after getting the ok to leave the hospital, Joe
looked terrible a really old frail skinny man on stage. The show he put on was amazing and you couldnt help but love him and look up to him, and all he has been through.

On Friday Joe was at the Glasgow Concert hall so my mum and I went to see him, I didn’t really want to go as I have tinnitus and I didn’t want to make it worse but he inst mega loud so I thought I would chance it. Joe came out on stage with his hair blonde just like the way he used to still looking a bit skinny but 100% better than the last time I saw him.

The show lasted or just over an hour and a half, and he was great. His voice is at its best, his impressions are at there best and his personality and humour is top.

I really enjoyed this and have to say, Joe is a great and amazing guy he has managed to fight a battle with cancer and win. The singing and fans are his medicine.

Top show, top performance.

Overboard – Review

31 03 2008

Plot – Rich bitch Joanna hires country carpenter Dean to build a closet on her yacht. When the two don’t see eye-to-eye, Dean is left unpaid while Joanna sets sail. The following day, Joanna is fished out of the sea, after falling overboard, suffering from amnesia. Dean sees a neat way to regain the money she owes him… he tells her she’s his wife; that way Dean gets a free housekeeper and mother for his four kids.

Review – I was at Andrew’s and saw he had this on DVD, and I was sure I had never seen it though he thought i would have…..taped it from TV and watched it…nope never seen it.

The film is a typical romantic comedy, but with 2 good main actors. The whole film is easy to watch and enjoy with the odd joke here and there. Overall it was enjoyable though not one i would watch again, it one of these one watch is enough films.

Bringing Down The House – Review

31 03 2008

Plot – Peter Sanderson is a divorced, straight-laced, uptight attorney who still loves his ex-wife and can’t figure out what he did wrong to make her leave him. However, Peter’s trying to move on, and he’s smitten with a brainy, bombshell barrister he’s been chatting with online. However, when she comes to his house for their first face-to-face, she isn’t refined, isn’t Ivy League, and isn’t even a lawyer. Instead, it’s Charlene, a prison escapee who’s proclaiming her innocence and wants Peter to help her clear her name. But Peter wants nothing to do with her, prompting the loud and shocking Charlene to turn Peter’s perfectly ordered life upside down, jeopardizing his effort to get back with his wife and woo a billion dollar client.

Review – I like Steve Martin, he is a good actor and I loved him in Father of the Bride. I missed this in the cinema so i thought i would tape it and watch it since it was on TV.

I only laughed a little, the jokes, the plot, the whole film was total pants. This was not a good film, i just didnt get it.

5 Children and It (2004) – Review

31 03 2008

Plot – ‘It’ is a Psammead (voiced by Eddie Izzard), an ancient, ugly and irritable sand fairy the children find one day on a secret beach at their uncle’s mansion. It grants them one wish per day, lasting until sunset. But they soon learn it is very hard to think of really sensible wishes, and each one gets them into unexpected difficulties. Magic, the children find, can be as awkward as it is enticing

Review – I saw the original on the BBC years ago, and I loved it. I loved the look of the production, the look of “it” the old man style. So when i say the remake on TV, i thought i would give it a shot and see what they had done to a classic.

They killed a classic, the amount of special FX used was overkill. The look ok “it” was very strange and you didnt really want to love him like you did in the originals.

Overall 100% pants, the original is 100% better and worth a watch.

Trust – Watched 2000 times

28 03 2008

WOW my latest film has been watched now 2000 time WOW, I really never thought it would get this high but cool :-)

Due to the success of this, I have decided that I will write a sequel and Andrew Kyle will co-write this production.

Here are a few locations that I have in mind :

1. Italy
2. London
3. Glasgow/London Airport
4. Inside British Airways Plane
5. Egypt

As you can see a lot of large scale locations, all which are easy to do without the use of bluescreen….more on this soon.

Vantage Point – Review

16 03 2008

Plot – With a Rashomon narrative style, the attempted assassination of the president is told from five different perspectives.

Review – From the trailers this looked like it was going to be a thrill ride from start to finish, so i decided to give it a go. This film is told by 5 different peoples views, and with each view it goes back to 12 O’clock. When you see this for the 4th time you start to get annoyed with it (like a few people in the cinema) but if you ignore this and concentrate on the story and the film its a great film.

The acting, the cast and the fx are really good, my only disappointment was the ending as it kinda just hits you. Overall it was very enjoyable and i would recommend this.

Blood Shadow Ep1 – Review

16 03 2008

Plot – The world is attacked by demons wanting female flesh (in two ways). Fighting them is a team of ninjas known as the Crimson Lotus, an (almost) all female fighting team led by (the only male) Rekka.

After a vicious fight against a particular hard demon, Rekka and Tsukikage are forced to split up. And while Rekka is rescued and can later return to the Crimson Lotus, Tsukikage doesn’t return at all. Thus, the time for revenge is here.

Review – Am not a manga person but i was sent this to watch, so i decided to give it a shot. The the first episode was ok to watch it didnt have much plot and story until the end. Episode one was practically a horror fest with girls being raped left and right and then killed in a rather grisly manner.

The sexual nature is very graphic from the drawing detail, to the sounds. It wasnt until the end i did start to get into the story when more back plot was introduced, i might try episode 2 and see if i would maybe watch the full series.

Bye Bye Hotmail, Hello Googlemail

10 03 2008

I have been using Hotmail now since I was in high school, but recently I feel its time to move to Googlemail here are my reasons behind this move.

Up until Hotmail (live) update it used to run nice and smooth for me and work with Firefox very well, now its hit and miss when using Firefox and also very slow….and also its always loading the classic view when I told it to use the full (I do have enough bandwidth to load the full).

Also every now and then you cant log on to hotmail, or log on to MSN messenger due to issues or you get random log outs. Hotmail used to be stable but now its a complete mess, so I decided to move over to Googlemail which did what I needed, less advertisements and runs on any browser without a single issue.

I have been using Googlemail for about a week now, and so far not had any issues with it. I can also use Pidgin to use GoogleChat and using it in my messenger, I have set iGoogle to my home page and customised it.

Overall I am happy I moved.

Curse Of The Golden Flower

5 03 2008

Plot – China, Later Tang Dynasty, 10th Century. On the eve of the Chong Yang Festival, golden flowers fill the Imperial Palace. The Emperor (Chow Yun Fat) returns unexpectedly with his second son, Prince Jai (Jay Chou). His pretext is to celebrate the holiday with his family, but given the chilled relations between the Emperor and the ailing Empress (Gong Li), this seems disingenuous. For many years, the Empress and Crown Prince Wan (Liu Ye), her stepson, have had an illicit liaison. Feeling trapped, Prince Wan dreams of escaping the palace with his secret love Chan (Li Man), the Imperial Doctor’s daughter. Meanwhile, Prince Jai, the faithful son, grows worried over the Empress’s health and her obsession with golden chrysanthemums. Could she be headed down an ominous path?

The Emperor harbours equally clandestine plans; the Imperial Doctor (Ni Dahong) is the only one privy to his machinations. When the Emperor senses a looming threat, he relocates the doctor’s family from the Palace to a remote area. While they are en route, mysterious assassins attack them. Chan and her mother, Jiang Shi (Chen Jin) are forced back to the palace. Their return sets off a tumultuous sequence of dark surprises. Amid the glamour and grandeur of the festival, ugly secrets are revealed. As the Imperial Family continues its elaborate charade in a palatial setting, thousands of golden armored warriors charge the palace. Who is behind this brutal rebellion? Where do Prince Jai’s loyalties lie? Between love and desire, is there a final winner? Against a moonlit night, thousands of chrysanthemum blossoms are trampled as blood spills across the Imperial Palace.

Review – 100% loved this film in the cinema, 100% loved it on DVD. The action, visuals, effects, martial arts are amazing. A MUST SEE

Grudge 2 – Review

5 03 2008

Plot – When the cast and crew of a paranormal TV show film on location at the Ju-On house, they immediately get the chills and the eerie feeling that something or someone is watching them. As they depart from the shoot stange things begin to happen…

Acclaimed filmaker Shimizu Takashi returns with the orginial Japanese sequel to Ju-On (a curse born of a grudge held by someone who dies in the grip of powerful anger). This psychological horror is more disturbing than ever and will take your fear to new heights as the curse renews itself with one blood-curdling vignette after another.

Review – To be honest i didn’t think this film was up to much…i was getting bored half way through and they didn’t do anything new. Grudge 1 was a lot better and had a lot of great tension scenes, where this i dont know…i just didnt like it that much.
