Bewitched (2005) – Review

27 06 2008

Plot – Out in California’s San Fernando Valley, Isabel is trying to reinvent herself. A naïve, good-natured witch, she is determined to disavow her supernatural powers and lead a normal life. At the same time, across town, Jack Wyatt a tall, charming actor is trying to get his career back on track. He sets his sights on an updated version of the beloved 1960s situation comedy Bewitched, re-conceived as a starring vehicle for himself in the role of the mere-mortal Darrin. Fate steps in when Jack accidentally runs into Isabel. He is immediately attracted to her and her nose, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the nose of Elizabeth Montgomery, who played Samantha in the original TV version of Bewitched. He becomes convinced she could play the witch Samantha in his new series. Isabel is also taken with Jack, seeing him as the quintessential mortal man with whom she can settle down and lead the normal life she so desires. It turns out they’re both right–but in ways neither of them ever imagined.

Review – I used to watch the TV series when I was younger, and when I heard about this remake I thought bad idea. The film only has about 5% to do with the original as its kind of a twist on the TV show. From start to finish its easy to watch, you don’t need to think much….and there are a few small funny jokes that you might laugh at but not much.

Overall this is one that you can safely skip, its ok but nothing great.

A New Chapter In Dragon Productions

27 06 2008

I am planning on adding ALL of Dragon Productions films, sitcoms etc on the web for everyone to see. There have been a few trailers and productions that did not make it to the web, plus a lot of people missed a few before they were taken down.

My plan is to find a YouTube alternative and upload them all there :) keep watching this space.

Tenknation – It Has Begun

25 06 2008

It has begun, after only 4 DJ sets I have been kinda pre-booked for a SL wedding, be a regular DJ at a popular SL Club and several parties.

This is good for me as I will become even more well known than I am at present, and in turn I will be able to spread the work about The Association for International Cancer Research (AICR) within Second Life.

The Ring 2 – Review

23 06 2008

Plot – Six months after encountering Samara and her killer video tape, Rachel Keller and her son Aiden leave the city to live in a small rural town where they think they’ll be safe. Soon after they arrive, however, Rachel hears about a college student who died nearby in circumstances similar to Samara’s past victims. Now it appears that Aiden’s life is in danger from Samara once more, and Rachel must investigate the little girl’s past if she wants to save her son.

Review – I liked the first remake of this film, and thought I would give the second one a shot. I am very glad I did as it was very good just like the original. I don’t think it was as suspense filled but still did a great job, I have to admit i think these films are probably the best remakes out of any Chinese/Japanese remakes…they stay true to the original and are still fantastic to watch.

Farscape : The Peacekeeper Wars – Review

23 06 2008

Plot – When a full-scale war is engaged by the evil Scarran Empire, the Peacekeeper Alliance has but one hope: reassemble human astronaut John Crichton, once sucked into the Peacekeeper galaxy through a wormhole. Crichton’s task: Get the entire Peacekeeper race to safety before the last war of an era brings an end to the universe.

Review – After watching Season 1 to 4 back to back. I had to continue and watch this. This was very cool to watch, it felt like a movie and looked amazing. The plot is very good and strong, and keeps all the little things you liked about the show and makes it 100% better.

I wont say to much in case I type something that could spoil it for people who haven’t seen it, but all i will say is if you liked the show then you will love this.

I WANT MORE FARSCAPE!!!

Ubuntu 8.04 – First Review

20 06 2008

For 8.04 I did an update, and a few weeks later had a few issues so I decided to do a clean install (which am glad I did).

The install process was easy just like the previous versions, I was just using my full HD for this. The install was 15mins, and once it booted to the desktop I was ready to start getting the system back to the way I like. First came downloading the updates, there was 162 updates which took a total of 30mins to download and install. Now it was to get the Nvidia drivers, a mere 4mins and that was me back to using the Nvidia drivers for 3D FX and gaming.

Now it was time to install the software that I used, that wasnt included in the main install. This process again only took a total of 15mins and they were ready to use. I copied all my music and my files that I backed up before the format and after transfering over USB (30mins) that was me back to a fully working and setup the way I like it laptop.

At first glance you dont really see much difference in this version. which you want as you dont want a learning curve (like XP to Vista) to get in the way. Everything felt a lot more zippy, and looked cleaner.

The Bad –

1. As normal my webcam didn’t work out the box, but add a line to the repo’s and thats it working.

2. For some reason I had to find out how to enable my Nvidia drivers, normally an icon appears and I click “allow”. I had to enable the desktop effects for that to pop up, not a big issue but not the best way to approch this.

3. Alsa & Pulseaudio – Since Pulseaudio was enabled by default, when i was using skype and then tried to play secondlife there was no sound in Secondlife and if i ran SL first then opened Skype i had no sound in that.  A quick sudo apt-get install esound fixed that, I feel that this should not have been added just yet…a waiting period where a good percentage of apps using Pulse as the main audio and then impliment this would have been better.

As you can see my bad points are very small and nothing major, so far I am very impressed with this release and look forward to features and versions to come.

My Forum – Soon To Close?

19 06 2008

Well it looks like its bad news for my forum, the amount of user activity has decreased to only about 3 views per day. I think the time has come to become more social with the way my friends communicate, I am thinking Flock with the twitter sidebar.

In doing this it means I don’t need to monitor for spam as it will just be my friends, I can still use my blog to advertise my latest projects and via word of mouth.

If my forum doesn’t pick up within the next few weeks its closing.

AICR Win a Date Auction 2008 – Secondlife

17 06 2008

On Saturday 14th June 2008 AICR held there fourth Win a Date Auction, this was held on thier very own sim (AICR) at Club AICR. Myself Kristopher Munro (Kristopher Tenk in SL) and Balthier Dagostino (Christopher Kay in RL) were the hosts for the evening.

There was a total of 17 candidates up for auction, but by the end of the auction that raised to a nice 20. Each candidate was willing to give up one or more hours to help AICR, when a user won a candidate they would contact them and arrange the day/time/place etc of their date. This was not a sex or slave auction within SecondLife, it was just to have fun, meet a new friend and help a worthy cause in the process.

The auction ran very smooth with no Secondlife issues, and lasted for just over 2 hours. After the auction Jack Glenelg (Jack Cumming from AICR) DJ’d for over an hour, then I took over and played till around 1:15am.

Tenknation hits Secondlife

16 06 2008

On Thursday the 12th June I head the 1st AICR Beach Party within Secondlife, this was also my first time DJn but I wanted to give it a shot. The night went very well and there was a few people there, and everyone loved my voice and my song choice.

This was just the start of Tenknation as I plan on doing a lot more, the reason for this is to get AICR noticed more plus get myself a better name within the game.
