AppleTV – First Impression Review

Part of my Christmas I received an AppleTV, I had been wanting one for a good few months mostly for the movie rental and podcast features. I have only played with it for a short period, but I thought I would post my first impressions and see how they change over time.

The Good :

• Design : The design of this box is very cool, it looks good just sitting there…very stylish.
• Features : A lot of the features are very cool, you can download and watch podcasts in HD, rent movies in HD, purchase movies and music, stream photos to your TV etc etc all very cool features.
• Interface : The look of the interface is very nice, it looks very slick and nice to look at. Cover flow photos appear when listening to music, the layout is ok and easy to understand.

The Bad :

• Interface : I know I had this in the good but it also comes with the bad….with Take 2 the interface has been improved but its still not perfect, i feel that I am clicking way too much to get to places.
• On/Off Switch : Yes a very small features but its always on and unless you have Take 2 which now includes a standby option…the only way to turn it off is to pull the plug..not a great way to turn it off.
• Hot : If you have this on for a while it heats up and I havent had it on over night, so I dont know if it gets REALLY hot….I cant see any breathers….

I know the bad points are nothing major.

So I have still to test an HD rental, I think for this I will rent it that night…let it download over night and watch it the next day. So far everything I have tested just works, I am a little dissapointed that the iPod Touch Remote app cant control the menu but hey it comes with a little remote.

So far I am liking this product very much….now to play with it more

Merry Christmas & Best Friends Update

Hey all I hope everyone had a nice Christmas, and Santa was good to you.

I am aiming to have Best Friends Season Two Episodes 4,5,6 and 7 up this week….if I can I will try to get the others up this week to…but not promising anything lol

So far the stats are looking good and Trust has hit the 20000 views mark which is AMAZING, I never ever expected any of my projects to get so many views so a big thanks to everyone who has watched it

Coming To My Site In 2009

Currently I am uploading Best Friends Season 2, so this will take a while due to upload speeds…so this will be the first thing to come. Then I will move on to Season 3, once they are fully up I will start to add the trailers and blooper reels.

I would also like to say that our Doctor Who production, will be 100% complete and ready to be uploaded by late 2009. When January comes I will be getting the ball rolling again on this, as its going to be the 1st production that I didn’t write so it will be nice to look at it from a different angle.

Another one I would love to say that will be uploaded by the end of 2009, will be Trust : No One. This has been fully scripted and ready to film, I feel this is a lot stronger than the first and again just as arty and dramatic as the first.

Normally Dragon Productions releases a few productions a year, but 2009 will only be one or two…this is due to the size of these productions and the style……plus most of us now have jobs so the time is limited but we will do out best.

Best Friends Season One is now fully available to watch on my website as from today, all 12 episodes of the wacky adventures of Kris and Chris.

Each episode lasts about 4 to 12mins in length, and is presented in full stereo sound.

Some Video Issues

For some reason, Viddler is having an issue with episode 7. I have contacted support and asked for help, I no its nothing with the encoding as its the same as the rest so could be just a busy server or something….

The Santa Clause (1994) – Review

Plot : When a man inadvertently kills Santa on Christmas Eve, he finds himself magically recruited to take his place.

Review : I remember going to see this in the cinema, with my parents and little cousin. There are only a very small amounts of Christmas films made that are actually very good and enjoyable and this is one of them.

This has a great feel to the film, it sits just right with just enough childish jokes etc for the kids and just enough jokes for the adults. Normally most kids movies bore the pants of the parents, but this is a great family movie.

Overall a really good family Christmas movie, that everyone will enjoy.

Aliens (1986) – Review

Plot : The planet from Alien (1979) has been colonized, but contact is lost. This time, the rescue team has impressive firepower, enough?

Review : With such a huge hit, a sequel was definitely needed and 100% welcomed. This film takes off a good few years after the first movie, and builds up a little more story on the first planet where the Alien was encountered.

I think this is an amazing movie, they didnt go overboard with the violence or showing the aliens it was just the correct amount. The suspense and story is so much fun, and all the action is just great. This is my favorite out of the whole 4 Alien movies, for me after the first two movies, everything went down hill and just sucked.

If they do a 5th movie, I would like it be just like the 2nd movie and not go OTT but I cant see that happening.
