Breaking Dawn (Twilight Saga Book) – Review

Plot
: To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs. Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences.

Review : I dont want to say too much about what happens, so I dont kill it for anyone who wants to read it so I will try my best not to say too much.

After enjoying the previous three books, I had to purchase and read this one as I was drawn in to the whole story. This has to be the best out of the 4 books, it has a lot more detail and story and also continues to keep the same feel throughout.

At the start of the book something major happens, which causes a massive chain reaction through out the book. This was a big shock as you didnt expect it to happen, and this is a reason that you are so drawn into the book as you want to know what will happen next.

I have to admit, when I got to the end I was very disappointed as i know there isnt going to be a 5th book…well at least not in the near future.

Overall I really enjoyed this, as it developed a lot of the characters story lines, it had more action, more story, more drama. If you have read the previous books, I would recomend you continue and read this as you wont be dissapointed and you wont want to put the book down.

I really hope more sequels follow, as its very well written and you instantly connect with each character and the story is great!

Duplicity (2009) – Review

25 03 2009

Plot : A pair of corporate spies who share a steamy past hook up to pull off the ultimate con job on their respective bosses.

Review : From the opening credits that alone should have told me “this is going to suck”, but I stayed and watched the whole film. This film is very long…well it felt that way, and it just sucked. Granted it has the odd joke, but there not going to make you pee your pants with laughter.

Sometimes I felt a little confused with the plot, and the story line was weak.

I would not recommend this.

Watchmen (2009) – Review

23 03 2009

Plot : When an ex-superhero is murdered, a vigilante named Rorschach begins an investigation into the murder, which begins to lead to a much more terrifying conclusion.

Review : I knew nothing about this apart from what I had seen in the trailer…so really people in spandex and big shiny blue guy.

The film has an interesting look, and its told through one of the main characters. The action (when it happens) is very good and interesting to watch, but there is more story told than action.

The soundtrack is very random, and works most of the time. A few folk told me oh its loaded with nudity…and to be honest there isnt much…if thats something your after. The big blue guy, walks about nude 90% of his scenes and you see everything…and then you have Janey Slater (Laura Mennell) in a few sex scenes. So nothing like what a folk told me…though I have to admit Laura does have a great body.

For me I really didnt enjoy it, it felt too long and just didnt sit right with me. Am sure if they cut a few scenes out of it, and made it a little shorter it might have gone down a little better for me. I wont be getting this one on DVD or anything else, I really didnt like it that much.

My Top Firefox Addons

17 03 2009

I have been a big fan of Firefox, and have used it well before version 1. The best features are the addons, and here are my favs :

Greasemonkey : This is such a cool addon, once installed you can then add scripts to it which can give you more features on specific websites and allow you to do more when on specific website.

I mostly use the Flickr scripts, to enhance my experience on the site and also a youtube one that adds a download link on the page :)

Lots of Greasemonkey scripts HERE

Video DownloadHelper : This addon allows you to download most embeded media on most websites.

Web Developer
: Do you create websites, then this addon is a great tool. It has soo many features…..too many to list so just install it and you wont regret it.

Adbuction : Ever wanted to take a screenshot of a website, but most of it is off the bottom of the screen? well this allows you to grab the entire website and save it as an image.

Fotofox : This addon allows you to upload photos to several socialnetworks, including Flickr and Zooomr

Deepest Sender : I moved back to Firefox after finding Flock, starting to get a little slow on me. I loved its blogging tool and so far this is the closest I could find that I feel is just as good.

Adblock Plus : Get rid of unwanted ads with this great addon.

Gmail Notifier : Add several Gmail accounts and Gmail for domain accounts with this great email checker.

Hope this helps a few folk :)

Gran Torino (2008) – Review

16 03 2009

Plot : Disgruntled Korean War vet Walt Kowalski sets out to reform his neighbor, a young Hmong teenager, who tried to steal Kowalski’s prized possession: his 1972 Gran Torino.

Review : I think this was the first film, I went to see not really knowing anything about the plot as I only knew who the main actor was.

This film is really good, when its funny its funny, when its sad its sad, when its serious its serious. The film has the right amount of everything, and is such a great movie.

I though the whole film was great, and really enjoyed it very much. If you have seen the trailer, ignore it as it makes it out to be a completely different movie…just go see this as its soo good.

Clint Eastwood is still a very good actor, and plays the part very well.

Overall a great film, and a must see.

Atomic Robo #4 – Review

10 03 2009

Plot : In 1975, with pressure to deliver a success, NASA turns to Atomic Robo to act as a top-secret escort for their troubled Viking mission to Mars. But one small step for a robot may not be the kind of giant leap for mankind they were hoping for!

Review : This was a really great episode, which has a lot of laughs and even made me laugh out loud at one Stephen Hawkings joke and the moon fun…which I wont kill for anyone who wants to read this.

This issue was such a good one, which helped bring back the humor that was missing from the last issue. I hope the next two issues, are just as good as this.

My Rating : 8 out of 10

Atomic Robo #3 – Review

10 03 2009

Plot : With a mobile pyramid and solar powered deathray wandering the Egyptian desert, Atomic Robo and the Alpha Squad are authorized for violent science. In these situations, it’s safest to assume mummies until proven otherwise!

Review :  This issue was a little dull to be honest, there wasnt the same humor as the previous episodes and it felt lacking in something…it did leave it on a cliff hanger which was an interesting one.

Overall this issue was just OK.

My Rating : 5 out of 10

Dollhouse Episode 4 (Gray Hour) – Review

7 03 2009

Plot : Echo becomes a burglar so she can perform a dangerous art break-in. Meanwhile Ballard challenges Lubov and Adelle makes a disturbing confession.

Review : For me the show isnt getting better at a fast rate, its getting better at a very slow pace which am sure a lot of folk would agree with.

I want more back story, more plot and more about the Dollhouse. Apart from that I am enjoying it but its just slow paced. This episode was interesting as you hear more about ALPHA, and you ECHO gets her memory rebooted….interesting.

Overall its still just an OK series, but I am going to continue watching it.
